Awesome new fundraising event scheduled for 2018!






























On February 3rd, 2018 Four Winds Brewery will be throwing a fundraiser for Reach Child and Youth Development Society at Harris Barn in Ladner featuring local music acts David Simard, Twin Bandit and Jack Mercer & the Whiskey Bandits . Four Winds tacos and beers will be available as well as brews from their friends at @steelandoak, @fieldhousebrewing, @brassneckbrew and @dageraadbeer. Tickets are currently available in the Four Winds tasting room (great last minute Christmas gifts) 4-7355 72 St., Delta and cost $50. On line tickets are available HERE!! We have moved to the Lois E. Jackson - Kinsmen Centre for Children 5050 47 Ave., Ladner effective December 18, 2017!


Shredding for Reach - November 4th! 


Raymond James | South Delta Financial Group and Remax Progroup Realty South Delta partnered to bring convenient shredding by donation to you in Ladner. Despite a dusting of snow, the event was held from 10 am to 1 pm behind the Raymond James parking lot at 5405 Ladner Trunk Road.  The event was a fantastic success  and an environmentally impactful three tons of paper were shredded and recycled, equivalent to 36 mature trees. 

Raymond James Foundation will match the $3,393.55 in donations raised at the event once again this year, as part of Raymond James Cares Month, making a $6,787 total.

Reach Society executive director Renie D’Aquila expressed heartfelt gratitude to organizers Eleanor Calderwood, Zahir Dossa and Vicki Chatterley at South Delta Financial Group and Bob Cooke at Re/Max Pro Group for their tremendous support to children with needs.

Delta Firefighter's Harvest Festival













This fun-filled evening was a huge success with locally sourced food for a buffet dinner, live music courtesy of the Joe Fernandes Band, bull riding, casino and other games. A fantastic group of people committed to having a good time and helping their community made the night emmensely memborable.  Reach Society was the featured beneficiary in 2017 and proceeds  will benefit Reach Foundation's Building for Children Together campaign.  

Canada Day Strawberry Fundraiser at Emma Lea Farms
















July 1, 2017, was Canada's 150th Birthday and we had a fantastic time at Emma Lea Farms on Westham Island. Reach staff adorned strawberry customers with Canada Day tattoos and enjoyed the hot sunny weather. Proceeds from the hot dog concession benefitted Reach for the day. A total of $3552 was raised! Reach Board Members, staff,  Kinsmen and members of the public came and spent time to enjoy the festivities!

A Taste of Reach Fundraiser June 20, 2017


We are thrilled to announce a brand new event benefitting Reach's Building for Children Together campaign. This evening will feature a testimonial from a South Asian family about their experience with Reach as well as a fine dining experience. Joy TV's incomparable Mona Patrola will guide you through this elegant evening while you enjoy wine,  beer and Indian shake pairings with appetizers followed by a seated dinner, live auction, door prizes and 50/50 draw. Westcoast Seeds Fundraiser May 6, 2017


Westcoast Seeds at 4930 Elliott St., Ladner donated proceeds from their annual seedling sale on Saturday May 6th and Sunday, March 7 to benefit Reach Foundation's Building for Children Together Campaign. West Coast Seeds presented Reach with a cheque for $3750 June 6, 2017. Westcoast Seeds boasts 850 varieties of untreated, certified organic, non GMO seeds right in Ladner Village!  

McHappy Day   May 3, 2017


The South Delta community came together on McHappy Day, Wednesday May 3 to support children and youth with special needs at Ladner and Tsawwassen McDonald’s restaurants. Local musicians, Reach Staff, Envision Credit Union Staff and other community volunteers supported the event that benefitted of Reach Child and Youth Development Society fo the 10th consectutive year. Delta Police and Firefighters were on hand volunteering to help chidren with special needs. Thank you McDonald's customers and staff for making McHappy Day such a great commuity event! 














Dedicated volunteers from Re/Max Progroup Realty, Raymond James South Delta Financial Group and Reach Society were not deterred by the rain that started falling with a vengeance near lunchtime at the Saturday fundraiser. There was a steady flow of shredding that members of the community drove to ReMax parking lot in Tsawwassen from 10 am to 1 pm, raising a total of $3115 for the Building for Children Together campaign. Thank you to Shredwise and operator Sacha Szymczak for coming out to shred on site. A huge thank you to Bob Cooke of Re/Max and Zahir Dossa, Eleanor Caldwell and Vicki Chatterley of  Raymond James for hosting this event that benefits children with special needs for us!




Passion for Potential was evident at the Reach for the Stars Gala 2017 held in the Coast Tsawwassen Inn last Saturday night! The 5th Annual Reach for the Stars fundraising gala benefitting the Reach Building for Children Together campaign was an outstanding success on many levels. “The positive energy radiating from the 270 guests and volunteers who came together in support of Reach on Saturday evening was overwhelming and filled my heart with immense warmth and pride at being a part of such an amazing organization”, shared Reach Fundraising Manager Kristin Bibbs. “It was truly an incredible demonstration of how deeply Reach is valued within our community.”

 May Days Choir youth including members with autism received a standing ovation for their performance of “Fight Song”.  Local resident and 104.3FM radio host Kelly Latremouille emceed the event and Councilor and MLA Candidate Ian Payton was auctioneer. Presenting sponsors Vancouver Fraser Port Authority and Canadian Autoparts Toyota (CAPTIN) Raffles and all sponsors, auction donors and guests attending helped raise $100,000.




























DELTA, BC (Nov.5, 2016) –   South Delta Financial Group | Raymond James and Re/Max Pro Group Realty partnered to bring the second annual fall Ladner shredding event  to benefit Reach Child and Youth Development Society last Saturday. Despite the rain, a huge number of local residents came out to Raymond James parking lot and took advantage of this great service. An environmentally impactful five tons of paper were shredded and recycled, saving an estimated 60 mature trees.




Thank you to School House Farm, 6395 60th Ave., in Ladner for hosting this feel-good event to support Building for Children Together. Our wonderful volunteers and DSS students had a fantastic afternoon in the sun with the sunflowers!

Joanne and Kevin Husband with daughter Katie Leek presented Reach Foundation Chair Denis Horgan and ED Renie D’Aquila with a cheque for $4132.21 from this year’s Canada Day Strawberry Fundraiser. Over the last three years, Emma Lea Farms has contributed $11,031 to the Building for Children Together project.

 When asked about their reasons for donating to the new Reach Child Development Centre, Emma Lea’s Katie Leek volunteered that she has a close friend with a child with special needs and she knows firsthand how consuming care can be. Joanne Husband said that she is fortunate that her children and grandchildren were typically developing and wants to help children and families who struggle with developmental delays. Kevin Husband is a member of the Delta Agricultural Society and is happy to contribute to projects that purposefully strive for the betterment of the community

DELTA, BC (June.23, 2016) –  Reach Child and Youth Development Society, in partnership with the Corporation of Delta and the Kinsmen Club of Ladner-Tsawwassen celebrated breaking ground this afternoon for the new Ladner Reach Child Development Centre.

Reach supporter TFN chief Bryce Williams performed a traditional welcome prior to a campaign update from the Reach Foundation. To date more than $4.6 million of the approximately $5.6 million needed to erect and furnish the new centre has been donated including a $1 million plus a similar value in kind contribution from Corporation of Delta and $250,000 from Delta Agricultural Society, in addition to a myriad of community, business and individual donations.

 “We’re so excited to be at this very significant milestone in our BUILDING FOR CHILDREN TOGETHER project”, exclaimed Renie D’Aquila, Reach Executive Director, “We’ve experienced such tremendous support from our community. In a little more than a year there will be a new centre here in the heart of Ladner and we’ll soon be able to support more families in the community.”


McHappy Day in Ladner

(May 4, 2016) Tsawwassen and Ladner McDonald’s hosted a feel-good, community-based McHappy Day to benefit Reach Child and Youth Development Society again this year. Sales of Red boots, Big Macs, coffee drinks, Happy Meals, socks and other branded merchandise as well as direct donations to Reach totaled $ 9322.00   “We are so appreciative of Ladner and Tsawwassen McDonalds and we really applaud owner, Steve Krawchuk for his tremendous commitment to children with special needs through this event for the past 10 years.” stated Renie D'Aquila,  Reach Executive Director.




DELTA, BC (Apr.26, 2016) – Reach Child and Youth Development Society held their 4th annual gala Saturday night to benefit the Building for Children Together capital campaign. The Passion for Potential theme was validated by the crowd in a big way with the fundraising total for the evening surpassing last year at $110,000, $10,000 more than in 2015.

Commenting on the overall success of the Red Gala Reach Society President, Donna Burke notes “Our Boards and staff are humbled and deeply touched by the circle of support that has surrounded this project and the families that we support.”

Native North Deltan and Global BC TV news anchor Steve Darling returned as MC at the Red Gala and entertained the crowds throughout the night with his wit and charm.  Century Group and Port of Vancouver were presenting sponsors and Canadian Autoparts Toyota sponsored Reach for the Stars at the platinum level.



DELTA, BC (Apr.21, 2016) – Saturday’s shredding event at Re/Max Progroup in Tsawwassen was an excellent service to the community and participants said that they enjoyed having a good clean out while contributing towards a good cause. The event also provided significant environmental merit with 3.25 tonnes of paper shredded and 37 mature trees reintroduced back into the cycle.

 ReMax Progroup Realty and South Delta Financial Group-Raymond James hosted the charity shredding event that raised $2400 to benefit Reach Child and Youth Development Society.  Re/Max Progroup and South Delta Financial Group volunteers were on site helping out for the day and 1-800 Shredding owner Tino Fluckiger also volunteered his time for the event.

November was Raymond James Cares Month and Raymond James Foundation matched all donations given during the fundraiser. Event volunteers are pictured above including Tino the owner of 1-800-SHREDDING who donated his time to benefit Reach!




What a fabulous night of rockin' and very little talking! Female vocalists Lisa Fennell, LJ Mountenay and Cecile LaRochelle rounded out Gabriel's talented band. Rave reviews were receieved all night!! Gabriel has recorded or performed with the likes of such varied artists as Michael Bublé (Gabriel performed with him extensively, recorded several albums with him, and produced the MB album ‘Dream’), Bob James, Jeff Lorber, Paul Brown, Greg Manning, Chuck Loeb, Brian Bromberg, Little Richard, George Benson, John Denver, Tom Scott, The O’Jays, Gino Vanelli, Heart, Darren Rahn, Marc Antoine, John Lee Hooker, and Long John Baldry. DELTA, BC (June 24, 2015) – Reach Child and Youth Development Society, in partnership with the Corporation of Delta and the Kinsmen Club of Ladner-Tsawwassen celebrated passing the halfway point in their $5-million “Building for Children Together” capital campaign today with the unveiling of a new building sign at the future home of the Reach Centre.

The proposed 20,000 square foot building will replace the current Ladner Kinsmen House at 47th Avenue and allow Reach Society to provide more programs for children with special needs and increase the number of children served. In addition, the new location at the heart of Ladner will make Reach services more visible and easily accessible to families.

“We are thrilled to have achieved this important point in our capital campaign and grateful to our many generous donors who have helped us get here,” said Renie D’Aquila, Executive Director for the Reach Child and Youth Development Society. “With continued support we will meet our fundraising goal and begin construction on this new community resource in spring 2016.”

To date more than $2.5 million has been raised from individual and community donors, including the Delta Agricultural Society, Port Metro Vancouver Gala and Partners, Westshore Terminals Ltd., John and Lindae Thomas, and Century Group. The Corporation of Delta has also provided land for the new centre, valued in excess of half a million.

Once complete, the new three-story Reach Centre will serve as place of learning and belonging for children with special needs and their families, providing therapy and counseling rooms, youth program areas, specialized lending libraries, an inclusive pre-school with accessible playground, and expanded event space for municipal, business and community use.

Strawberry Season came early this year and Emma Lea Farms and their customers donated a bumper crop of proceeds to Reach Child and Youth Development Society!  Joanne and Kevin Husband, owners of Emma Lea Farms are pictured with their extended family and Executive Director Renie D'Aquila as well as with their generous cheque.

Emma Lea is a fruit and vegetable farm located on Westham Island and June 7th, 2015 marked their second annual Strawberry and Ice cream Fundraiser to benefit Reach. Proceeds from hotdog, milkshake and most importantly, strawberry sundaes totaled $4,604.87. This total is double the 2014 event takings.

Sadly, the main strawberry season has come to an end but not before Emma Lea, their customers and Reach supporters made a huge difference to Reach Foundation. Buying locally and community giving paired up with very sweet results for all concerned.

This year’s donation exceeded all expectations and Reach is so thankful to Steve Krawchuk, owner of Ladner and Tsawwassen McDonald’s restaurants, McDonald’s staff, restaurant patrons, community groups and volunteers who came together to make McHappy Day a record fundraising event this past Wednesday.

McHappy Day fundraising would not have been a success without the untiring support of McDonald’s staff –Tsawwassen managed by Holly Sorley and Ladner managed by Cindy Carter. A huge role was also played by volunteers from Reach Society, Delta Secondary School, Century Holdings, Raymond James, Ladner Baptist Church youth group, Ladner Rotary and from the community generally. They greeted folks, worked the drive-thru and crafted with kids. In addition, Reach is very grateful to all South Delta residents who came out and had breakfast, lunch or dinner at McDonald’s on May 6th.

The outpouring of community support for McHappy Day was overwhelming. Local musicians Natasha D’Agostino, Christine Magee, Amanda Stanyer, Mike and Em Greene plus family, Peg Keenleyside and Ashley Lucky of Tropical Heat volunteered their time to perform at Ladner and Tsawwassen restaurants. Southpointe Academy Songfire Choir and Jazz Band, Delta Secondary Choir, May Queen Hana and Princess Kayt came and shared their talent. BC Guide Dogs were at both sites in the morning and afternoon. Visits from Delta Police and Delta Firefighters added to the excitement and Delta Cable and Delta Optimist were on the scene recording the day’s events as they unfolded.

Reach Child and Youth Development Society would like to thank everyone for helping to raise $10,000 at the Rockin’ for Reach benefit concert on November 8th, 2014 in Tsawwassen. Funds were raised through ticket sales, a silent auction and other fundraising activities, including a 50/50 in which the winner donated a sizeable amount back to Reach, and where the winning funds were matched by The Kinsmen Club of Ladner Tsawwassen, who are partners with Reach in the building It was an amazing night of music, dancing fun and giving! Funds will go to the “Building for Children Together” project to build a new, community-based child development centre in Ladner for children and youth with special needs.
