Early Intensive Behavioural Intervention (EIBI) Program

for Delta, Surrey, & Langley Families

Early Intensive Behavioural Intervention (EIBI) Program provides intervention for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) who are age five or younger.  EIBI is fully funded by Ministry of Children and Family Development.  Children in EIBI receive APPROXIMATELY 20 hours one-to-one behavioural intervention weekly.

EIBI Program uses two main intervention approaches:

Intensive Behavioural Intervention, including direct teaching strategies such as Discrete Trial Training

Social-Pragmatic Developmental Techniques, including Incidental Teaching and Naturalistic Teaching

The intervention is coordinated and supervised by a behaviour consultant.  An interdisciplinary approach is used, which includes speech-language pathology and occupational therapy services. EIBI’s clinical standards are available at:  http://www.mcf.gov.bc.ca/autism/pdf/eibi_clinical_standards.pdf

More information about EIBI and other provincial government Autism Program can be found at: http://www.mcf.gov.bc.ca/autism/pdf/autism_handbook_web.pdf

The following are requirements for enrolment in the EIBI Program:

Children need to have a multi-disciplinary diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder.

Families have to reside in Delta, Surrey, or Langley.

Children that have passed their 5th birthday will not be eligible for EIBI.

Families are responsible for having their child available for all scheduled intervention sessions (approximately 20-24 hours per week).
