  • A request for parents to share experiences of Kindergarten in different schools with their kids with autism. Mom being pressured into putting son into Kindergarten this Sept and she doesn'the will be ready, but it looks like Supported Child Development will be completely withdrawn, so it may be Kindergarten or nothing.  Are there any schools in Richmond that are particularly recommended by parents (or to be avoided)?  Other parents may be interested in Kindergartens in other areas as well.   • New Reach ABA program...Due to changes to services for children and youth diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and their families, the Reach Early Intensive Behavioural Intervention (EIBI) Program has been adapted. See Reach ABA Program page.

•·         New National Children's Study Seeks Environmental Causes of Autism ... Preliminary studies are already beginning to link both asthma and autism to acetaminophen.

  • HBO movie premier coming in February  on the life of Dr. Temple Grandin.  "Autism gave her a vision. She gave it a voice."   • ProBonoLawClinics; Agency Deltassist Family & Community Services (Jan 27th)
  • BudgetingWorkshop Agency: Deltassist Family & Community Services (no income restrictions Feb 20th)
  •   Mental illnesses, developmental disabilities and behavioural management.  This course is suitable for families, teachers, social workers, group home staff, nurses, caregivers, etc. The course meets Fridays from March 26  to June 18, 2010.  Homework is part of the program, and when students are finished they will have written an entire behavioural assessment and intervention package on a real client.  We do issue certificates for those who have completed their homework to our satisfaction, however it does not have university credits associated.   Costs are minimal for the program ($200) and only to meet our expenditures.  This program is a part of the Fraser Health Region and Vancouver Coastal Health Authority. 10. Seasonal

  • Delta Summer Fun This is an announcement of the annual AGM meeting for Summer Fun. Our AGM will take place on Wednesday, March 3 at the Town and Country Registration/coffee will start at 6:30pm Meeting will start at 7:15pm. Attendance at this meeting is mandatory.  A reminder that parents must have a representative there for your child.  We are in the process of reviewing fees for the 2010 Summer Fun Program.  This will be determined once we receive notification about our gaming grant status.
