At Reach we offer a variety of programs designed to meet a wide range of developmental needs, including services for children and youth with autism. We have brought together professionals with expertise and knowledge in a variety of areas including Early Childhood Educators, Speech Language Pathologists, Behavioural Consultants, Supported Child Development Consultants, Occupational Therapists, Infant Development Consultants and others with extensive experience supporting families and children. Our family centered philosophy means that families determine the direction of Reach, and our programs and services are modified as families’ needs change. Reach is pleased to announce our new Music Program for Youth with Special Needs.This February Reach will be offering the Just Jammin Music Program for children ages 10 to 19 with developmental and special needs, including children with autism.The Just Jammin’ program will meet as a group every Thursday evening for 2 hours to learn new instruments, express themselves through music and share musical abilities with friends. It’s a chance for kids who like to sing and play music to meet new friends, strengthen musical and social skills and, most of all, have lots of fun.Some musical instruments will be provided such as keyboard, guitar, hand drums, tambourine and other percussion instruments. Participants are also welcome to bring their own instruments.Instructors for the program include Karen Field, a Behavioural Consultant with Reach Child and Youth Development Society, and Terry Lisney, a musician and song writer who has worked on music projects with people who have special needs.Open to children with special needs ages 10 to 19 living in Delta, Surrey, or Langley. B.C.Location: Reach Play and Learn Centre, 11425 84th avenue North DeltaTime: Thursdays, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.Dates: February 5th to April 16th (excluding 2 week Spring break)Cost: $100 for 10 weeks
