Reach Library
Reach Child and Youth Development Society library is a resource we offer to families who are receiving Reach services, attending programs, or are on the waitlist to receive services.

The library features books on a variety of topics related to child development, chosen by our child development experts for their timeliness, readability, and quality. Topics include:
  • Parenting
  • Single parenting
  • Fathering
  • New parenting/Infant development
  • Parenting and family special needs
  • autism spectrum disorders
  • Learning disabilities/ADHD/Gifted
  • Learning/Education/Development/Brain Science
  • Down syndrome
  • FASD/NAS/CDBC
  • Health (including sensory, sleep, diet, exercise, sexual health)
  • Mental health
  • Social skills
  • Behavior
  • Communication
  • Activities/games/music

The library also offers children’s story books on a variety of topics related to life experiences. These topics include:

  • Baby board books
  • Bedtime and sleeping
  • Body development and sexuality
  • Death or loss
  • Divorce or separation
  • Elderly issues
  • Exploring differences
  • Food
  • New experiences (like going to the hospital, or going to school)
  • Parents working
  • Self-esteem
  • Sign language
  • Social behavior
  • Toileting and potty training
  • Seasonal storytime books for toddlers
  • Wordless books

A maximum of 3 books will be loaned for a 3-week period.

The Reach Library/Behaviour Consultant Lisa Woudzia will be available Mondays from 9:00 – 2:00 to assist in choosing books that best suit your needs. Lisa will also be available during this time for families who are waiting for our services and have questions about their child’s development or behaviour. Lisa is a Behaviour Consultant with over 20 years experience in the field of child development and special needs. This is not a comprehensive service, but someone to speak with until your service is in place.

Families who would like to access the library any other time must have must have their program staff person sign out their book(s).
