Sexual Health Education: Considerations for Children and Youth with Diverse Needs and Disabilities

Sexual health education in BC schools aims to equip students with the information, motivation, and behavioural skills needed to enhance sexual health and avoid negative sexual health outcomes. All individuals have the right to learn all they can to enable them to become sexually healthy persons.

This session will include:

• Sexual health information and statistics for school-aged children and youth in BC.
• Considerations for teaching youth with disabilities, along with recommendations for aligning approaches between home and school.
• Resources to support sexual health education for youth with disabilities and diverse needs.
