About the position Reporting to the Program Manager, the Residence Coordinator oversees the day-to-day operations of a 24-hour respite home located in Surrey, B.C., that services 2 children in the home at one time, with a total of 8 children in rotation.  The Residence Coordinator provides ongoing supervision of staff, evaluates program policies, and ensures the programming for all children and youth at the residence. Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Recruits, screens, selects, hires, evaluates, schedules, supervises, and supports caregivers for the respite house
  • Identifies training needs of caregivers and facilitates training
  • Coordinates placement of children and youth in the home
  • Develops, implements and evaluates residence goals, objectives policies and procedures and ensures the required standards are maintained. Identifies both physical and program needs of the residence to appropriate authority. Plans with staff for changes.
  • Oversees the day-to-day operation of the program by ensuring that the necessary facilities and equipment are in place, program guidelines and policies are adhered to, and program standards and licensing requirements are met.
  • Responsible for setting up and maintaining record-keeping system
  • Submits reports as required
  • Works with the Executive Director to prepare the program budget
  • Attends regularly scheduled meetings with Ministry Liaison, and manages referrals.
  • Provides leadership, guidance and participates with staff, families and others in planning and providing client plans, case conferencing, case management and the preparation of related documents and reports. Completes personal care plan for client.
  • Ensures the cleanliness, safety, security and maintenance of the residence in accordance with MCFD standards either directly or through delegation to staff.
  • Monitors and authorizes program expenditures and maintains financial records in accordance with established procedures. Prepares the program budget for submission and presentation to senior management and/or the Board of Directors.
  • Promotes public awareness of and support for the program by performing duties such as producing promotional materials and attending community events.
  • Maintains related records and statistics and produces reports as required.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
  • A diploma in the human services field is preferred
  • Must have a minimum of three (3) years experience working directly with families with children who have special needs
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience in a supervisory capacity

About The Position Reporting to the Program Coordinator and working in the Delta, B.C. area, the Delta Connex Key Worker assists and supports families and their children with FASD and/or Complex Behaviour. Together with the family, the Key Worker develops behavioural and parenting strategies and connects the family to additional community supports and resources. Currently, we have two permanent positions available; one full-time and one part-time. About You • You hold a degree or certificate pertaining to child development. This may include an E.C.E. certificate with a Special Needs citation; or Youth and Child Care Degree. • You have worked a minimum of 2 years experience working with families and children with behavioural challenges • You have knowledge and skills required to assess behaviour, develop strategies, and develop support plans • You have sound knowledge of FASD, Complex Behaviours and services available in the community • You are trained in trauma-informed best practices • You have experience or knowledge of counseling • You have a strong and demonstrated commitment to a family-centred philosophy • You will adhere to Reach’s Code of Ethics and Policy and Procedures Key Duties and Responsibilities as a Keyworker: • With the supervision of the Coordinator and Clinical Supervisor, the Key Worker will work with several families with a variety of needs • Work with families to liaise with different agencies or service providers • Hold Careteam meetings, and teach families and community members how to run Careteam meetings, as requested by the family • Using a trauma informed lens and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) methodology, conduct functional assessments of behaviour when required • Summarize functional assessments with a Behavioural Support Plan or Family Action Plan in a clinical and family-centred manner • Come alongside the family to model how to implement trauma-informed intervention and support and, jointly with the family, develop behavioural and parenting strategies. • Assist with training and education for families using an attachment-based, action-oriented philosophy • Assist in promoting prevention and safety messages to families and the community • Collect program data as required and provide the Coordinator with required information Additional Information • This position requires a Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License, the use of a personal vehicle and cell phone. • Two positions are available One Full-time position and one part-time position • This position requires a Criminal Record Check • The positions require Union membership. As a Child and Youth Care Worker at REACH Child and Youth Development Society’s Respite Home, you will play a vital role in caring for complex and challenging children and youth in a small, two-bedroom respite home setting. These are full-time positions at 37.5 hours per week (varying shifts) and your role will include providing day-to-day in-home direct care up to and including personal care to persons with developmental disabilities, and implementing the care plan with various strategies and interventions to assist the growth, development and success of the person you will be caring for. You will participate as a member of the care team, facilitate activities and outings for the individual, regularly write reports and submit documentation on the individual’s plan, and respond to and help the person safely through behavioral needs and challenges. As per Reach Policies and Procedures, employees in a permanent position of 20+ hours per week are eligible (after passing probation) for extended health benefits and pension plan, as well as paid vacation and sick time.
